Sita Ivana Paradise

   Sita Paradise was born third in a set of triplets twenty-two years ago in Mexico. Shortly after she born, as in days afterward, she was kidnapped. She was adopted illegally and raised as an only child named Vyxa Ambrodan. The people who raised her were very kind to her and she never suspected that she was stolen or that she had three siblings; triplets Alejandro and Selina, and younger sister Salma.
   As she grew older, she handled school adeptly, and made straight A's. She was truly the perfect child. It wasn't until she hit her teens that her wild streak began to make its first appearances. That same wild streak made her parents aprehensive when she left for college at sixteen, since she had been skipped ahead a couple of times in school. They feared she'd end up in a heap of trouble.
   They were right. Very right.

   Almost three years later, near her nineteenth birthday, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She knew she couldn't keep her, though, and reluctantly gave her up for adoption. To try and rid herself of the pain, she buried herself in her studies, and graduated a few years later. She had many great job offers, but felt that she had to just get away, so started researching not-so-well known places to decide where to go.
   She decided to visit her parents, and was looking through photo albums with her mom, when she realized there were no pictures of her mom being pregnant, or of her in the hospital, anything like that. And no film of the actual birth, as most people had. She decided to ask about it.
   "Mom, I just realized there are no pictures with you pregnant or us in the hospital... Why?" She was surprised by the way that her mom just froze and paled to a sickly white color. "Mom, are you alright?"
   Her mother slowly shook her head and whispered, almost as if speaking to herself, "I knew this would happen eventually, but not NOW... I'm not ready..."
   "Mom, what!?"
   Verhana Kenan-Ambrodan bit her lip, hesitating. She then sighed and said, "Vyxa, you're adopted. Kian and I adopted you shortly after you were born."
   It was Sita's turn to freeze, then. She finally managed to say, "I was adopted?? Why wasn't I told!?"
   "I'm sorry, Vyxa. We always thought of you as our real daughter. We had hoped the question would never arise."
   Sita stood abruptly and ran from the room. She found herself in her old bedroom, which hadn't changed at all since she had left. Hesitating for a moment, she glanced around her, and suddenly started weeping. Sita collapsed onto the bed and went from weeping to sobbing.

   Later, there was a knock on her door.
   "Vyxa, sweetie, can I come in?" Kian asked, his voice slightly muffled by the solid wood door.
   She was still for a moment then stood, crossed the room, and opened the door.
   "I'm sorry we didn't tell you before, princess, and I know it was unexusable," he stated, using her nickname for her, probably hoping it'd help endear him to her once more. He continued, "Would it help any if we helped you find your biological family?"
   "Y-you would do that?" Sita asked.
   Kian nodded. "Of course, princess. We only want you to be happy."
   Sita smiled and hugged him. "Thank you."

   It only took a few weeks, since Kian knew the names of Sita's parents. They found them in Texas. As Sita climbed out of the car in front of her biological parents' home, she just stopped and stared at it for a minute. "It's beautiful," she whispered. Licking her lips nervously, Sita walked up the sidewalk, climbed the steps to the porch, and just stood in front of the door for a moment, hesitating. Nerving herself, she knocked on the door.
   It was only seconds later when it was opened by a lovely Mexican woman who looked so like herself that Sita was momentarily overwhelmed. The woman froze as she looked Sita over, then hugged her tight while crying tears of joy.
   "Sita, my Sita..." she whispered over and over.
   Sita went inside with her mother and caught up. She was told about her siblings and her dad, who she met later. She was also told of her demise of her only brother, which saddened her greatly. After finding out about the fact that her twin sister lived on a small island named Morada, that her brother had been there before his death, and that her younger sister Salma had probably went there after she ran away, Sita decided that that was where she was going to go. She bid farewell to her parents, and the Ambrodans, packed her things, and left for Morada.

   The boat ride there was very uneventful, bordering on boring, and Sita did alot of reading to occupy her time. When she arrived on Morada, with just one thousand dollars, she was upset to learn that her luggage, along with that of a number of others on board, had been lost. After collecting her passport, which she had lost all on her own, and being given an envelope by a Customs official to deliver, who guaranteed her she would be paid on delivery, she set out to find her sisters.

<a few months later>

   Sita Paradise enters the Pub and sits on an empty barstool. Waiting for Shreve to glance her direction, she beckons him over. Smiling as usual, he comes. Soon, he and Sita are conversing.
   "I'm sorry, Sita, but my phone is reserved for calling escorts for, ehem, overly tipsy patrons," you overhear him say. Sita says something back that you can't quite catch. Shreve looks hesitant, then obviously gives in, for he places the phone on the bar. She smiles happily at him and proceeds to dial a number. After some quick, quiet words into the phone, she hangs up. Smiling gratefully at Shreve again, she gets up and leaves.

<about a week afterwards>

   Sita Paradise enters the somewhat cooler front area of the Morada Post Office, and steps up to the counter. A clerk comes out the back, speaks briefly with her, and goes through a door. After a few minutes, he comes back and hands her a rather fat legal envelope.
   Sita flashes a bright smile, thanks the clerk, and opens the envelope. She hesitates as she puts her hand inside, then, biting her lip, pulls out a thick sheaf of papers. Sita peruses these for awhile, then grins. She puts the papers back into the envelope and closes it. Holding the envelope tightly, she steps back out into the hot Moradian afternoon.
